Love is a Verb

{Follow my blog with bloglovin}

Whether you believe in God, Allah, or Conan O'Brien I think we can all agree that this verse from the Bible speaks universal truth.

John 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

It's all well and good to say the words, "I love you," but Love is a Verb. To express love, you must behave lovingly.

{via}
In addition to saying "I love you," try:
  • Having sex with your husband -- and often. This can be the single most unifying action if you allow it to be.
  • Holding your husbands hand, touching his back, or putting your arm around him.
  • Take responsibility for your commitments and obligations. If you are in charge of homemaking, make him feel loved and appreciated by having a warm meal ready for him. Do his laundry. Vacuum.
  • Never belittle your husband, in others presence or in private. In fact, take it a step farther. Praise him.
These are clearly a sampling of ideas. Be creative. Take time to think of ways to show love and make a plan to execute your ideas. What will work for you? A rockin' hot marriage requires thought, energy, and planning.

Now go do.

Have you noticed improvement in your marriage by making love a verb?

Good Intentions

In life, people say and do stupid things. I have learned, however, that offensive or hurtful words and actions are usually not intended to be so. They are generally poorly formed thoughts or misunderstood actions. This applies in marriage as well. If you are the good, honest woman you ought to be and if you have married a good man, he would never intentionally hurt you. Would you intentionally hurt him?

If the answer was yes, stop right there. Change yourself. Why would you ever hurt the person most important in your life?

If the answer was no, as it should be, think on it. "I would never intentionally hurt my husband and he would never intentionally hurt me. " What a freeing statement! How much easier is it to not take offense and to forgive if you truly believe this statement?

{via}

Your marriage will be so peaceful and happy if you live by the belief that you would never do anything to intentionally hurt your spouse.

Let's do some examples:

  • Change this thought, "How could Husband leave the trash can overflowing again after we have decided this to be his chore?! He must not respect me." into this thought "Silly Husband, he forgot to empty the trash can again. He must have a lot on his mind."
  • Change this thought, "Why isn't Husband coming on to me tonight? He must think I am undesirable." into this thought, "Husband hasn't hit on me tonight. He must be feeling unloved. I think I'll start some hanky panky."
  • Change this thought, "Why did he buy me a blanket for my birthday? He knew I wanted a new pair of jeans." into this thought, "He bought me a blanket, how sweet! He knows I'm always cold when we cuddle up on the couch to watch a movie."

Have you had an experience where you chose to recognize Husband's good intentions?

Bikini Kit Scam & A Truly Sorry Gwen

For those of you using google reader, please forgive me for leading you astray :( I believe the Bikini Kit was a scam. Can you ever forgive me? *Sigh*

Bikini Kit

With all of this talk of cleaning up for bikini season I decided to do some investigating and am so pleased with what I've found. A Bikini Care Kit from Gilette Venus!

Here is what's included:

  • 1 Venus Embrace® Refillable Razor
  • 1 Venus Bikini Trimmer
  • 1 Olay® Bikini Lotion (helps with razor burn)
Venus razors are amazing and have 5 blades and a ribbon of moisture. But what I'm most excited about is the Bikini Trimmer. There is a protective shield to ensure an even, safe trim. I'm a wax girl myself, but this seems perfect for in between salon visits. If you've never tried trimming down, this may be a great tool to ease you into the practice.

EDIT: My sincerest apologies! I had initially posted about an offer to receive this kit for free. After looking into it, it seemed a little bit too fishy. I guess if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Please forgive me for leading you astray :( But the kit still looks like a great product! Let me know if you give it a try.

I received this comment the other day and thought it best to be a collaborative effort. So, do tell girls, how do you keep yourself fresh and clean where the sun is not seen?

Sex & Money

Autonomy plays an integral role in a successful and fulfilling marriage. While I am all about dividing roles and responsibilities, I am equally passionate about educating yourself and taking control of your life. Whether you are the primary financial leader or your husband takes this role, it is vital that you be informed about your finances.

It is often said that sex and money are the top causes for contention, and even divorce, in marriage. By now you are all well on your way to having a rockin' hot sex life so here are a few conversation starters to be sure you and your honey are in harmony regarding your money matters:
  • What steps are we taking to save money?
  • What steps are we taking to invest money?
  • Why are we saving/investing money?
  • Do we have a budget?

Husband and I are completely obsessed with Mint.com. After a simple set up process, our income and spending are automatically tracked and categorized making it easy to see where we need to cut back spending. Mint.com has over 1 million users and has been named the best online personal finance tool by Money Magazine. It is fast, intuitive, and offers real solutions. Multiple users are allowed for one account making it easy for you to collaborate with your spouse. The iPhone application is one of my favorite features. Alerts for over-spending can be sent right to your pocket.

Even if you already have a budgeting system in place, I would highly recommend giving Mint.com a try. It is free and more importantly stands as an invaluable tool for understanding your finances. Take control, girls. You'll feel sexy, I'm sure.

Love Story -- Newlywed Next Door

Enjoy a Love Story from Newlyweds Next Door:

Sometimes I wish I had some elaborate engagement story that caused girls around the world to swoon and sigh, but then I remember the night I got engaged and I know that wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

In fact, in just a couple of weeks it will be 3 years since the Mr. proposed to me.

Honestly, it feels like longer ago. So much has happened since then - wedding planning, buying a condo, wedding, honeymoon, and millions of small (and large) moments and milestones as a married couple.

The date was 07/07/07 - and for me, it really was the luckiest day of my life.

The Mr. took me out to celebrate my 24th birthday (which was actually 7/6/07) at this amazing restaurant near where I lived in Manhattan Beach called Bora Bora (sadly that restaurants has since closed).

We shared an amazing dinner of ceviche, crab-stuffed fillet mignon, and wine. Sadly we didn't take any pictures, but it was such a fun dinner.

After dinner, the sun was setting and the Mr. suggested that they take a walk on the beach in the sweet light. At that point I knew something might be up, so I agreed easily.

While we were walking along picturesque Manhattan Beach at dusk, the Mr. suddenly dropped to one knee and asked, "will you marry me?"

I replied, "OF COURSE!"

We kissed and hugged and I cried. It was perfect – sweet, secluded, and very "us."

Then suddenly in the distance, near Santa Monica, fireworks started going off. We joked that they were for us and stayed on the beach until it was totally dark.

After the proposal I asked the Mr. a million questions and found out that he'd talked to my Dad already (which made me cry) and that he had been in possession of the custom-designed engagement ring that he handled 100% on his own for almost a month.

Cha Ching! Banking

I share everything with Husband, including my bank account. It really has nothing to do with the money and everything to do with trust. Husband and I discuss purchases, we don't ask permission. We are a team. We know how the other feels about money and the way it is spent and we do our very best to respect that.

We have no secret bank accounts like Suze Orman suggests. In my opinion, secret bank accounts are recipes for disaster. While I understand why she encourages women to be protected and covered, I strongly feel hiding money makes room for doubt and distrust in your marriage. Wouldn't you feel betrayed if you found your husband had been hiding money?

What if the money is not hidden and your separate bank accounts are disclosed? Could there be harm done to your unity?

{Don't these love bugs look like old time bankers? It makes me smile. Via }

What do you think? Do you share a bank account with your man? If not, do you have a specific reason for the separation?

Sex Stoppers -- Hygiene

Sex Stopper: Here is a straight forward problem. Stinkiness. No one wants to make out with a giant stinky. You've been the culprit, he's been the culprit, I've been the culprit. It's just part of life. We don't always smell like roses. But it's ok. There is an easy solution.

{via}

Solution: Are you ready for it? You'll be blown away at how simple it is.

If you know a rendezvous is around the corner, hop in the shower and brush your teeth. He will probably feel compelled to do the same. You'll feel fresh and sexy and you'll also have a fresh mouth to make out with in return. Everyone wins.

If it's not you you're worried about, you could always put on your flirty smile and say, "I really, really want to give you a surprise, but first would you mind hopping in the shower?" For some reason we become nervous to bring it up and often end up missing out on an intimate night with our man. The solution is so simple, hygiene should never be a sex stopper again!

Feelin' Sexy Friday -- Talk The Talk

We Walked the Walk a few weeks ago. I think it's time we Talked the Talk.

We are all wholesome girls around here. We don't swear in front of our mothers and we are kind to the animals. But do you let your Dirty Christina's come out in the bedroom? Are you too shy? I'm not suggesting you become a nasty porn star. Oh heavens no. But you could definitely try to throw out something spicy here and there.

Here are some lines you could try:

  1. I love the way you kiss me…especially when you kiss me there!
  2. I love you so much. Can you feel it?
  3. Use your mouth on me.
  4. Do you like the way that looks?
  5. This is going to be the dirtiest night of your life.
  6. You can have me any way you want.
  7. Don’t stop, harder!
  8. I want you so bad – can you feel how much?
  9. I love how big your {word of choice} gets when I talk to you like this.
  10. Tell me what you’re doing. I want to hear the words.
